SUBMISSIONS
Award submissions will open in March 2018, with a deadline of April 15th. An announcement of finalist recipients will be made by the end of May. Finalist nominees will be requested to provide an indication of his or her availability to accept the award at the ceremony.
Students may specify the award category (see list at the end of this document) they are applying for however, the award committee may decide the best category. Submissions should include a completed nomination form that the individual or group is being nominated for, which includes:
- 1. Nominee curriculum vitae (LinkedIn format or other common format) and photo; can include copies and links to supplementary materials such as newspaper articles, etc.
- 2. Nominee’s brief letter of intent specifying in one paragraph why s/he is applying for the award and the category of award s/he are applying for.
- 3. A recommendation letter in Romanian or English. One from a mentor (e.g. a teacher, an employer, an internship supervisor, etc) will have strong consideration. No letters from family will be accepted. The letter must be sent by the recommender to This email address is being protected from spambots. AWARD COMMITTEE
The committee consisting of the chair and four other members will reserve the right to choose the award for the nominee. Only one award per category will be offered. If no candidates meet the eligibility requirements, an award may not be given.
Criteria considered for evaluating nominees:
1. Demonstrates dedication in community projects;
2. Shows leadership, responsibility, and initiative
3. Inspires others through integrity and personal achievement
4. Demonstrates personal achievement
5. Overcome adversity for personal development;
6. Demonstrates continued support of EERC the goals and mission.
AWARDS CATEGORIES
1. High School Alumni Award: $250
Purpose: To recognize high school enrolled alumni who are leaders in their school and community through academic achievement, excel in volunteering work, are involved in school projects, and show initiative and leadership.
2. Young Adult Alumni Award: $250
Purpose: To recognize alumni who are outstanding leaders in their vocation and community and show promise of future professional growth. Open to high school graduates.
3. EERC Ambassador Alumni Award: $400
Purpose: To recognize an individual who has shown exemplary effort in maintaining alumni interest in EERC and promoting the EERC values and mission. Open to all.
4. Team Achievement Award: $400
Purpose: To recognize the value of team work, the friendships forged by joining EERC, and the value of many being as one. Teams must be comprised of alumni or alumni and host family children. There must be a minimum of 2 team members.
5. "Professor Radu Florescu" Merit Scholarship: $1000
Purpose: To recognize outstanding academic achievement and unwavering support of EERC. Recipients should demonstrate strong bonds to Romanian life through giving back to the community. This award is offered by the Florescu family.
6. Alumni Travel Grant
Purpose: To facilitate the return of alumni to the US, as defined by the EERC criteria. This grant supports the chaperone component for the summer program. Application for this award in in late fall. This award will not be announced at the ceremony.
